GREETINGS FROM KOREA

GREETINGS FROM KOREA

So I do now realize that I gave practically no information about anything in my last email haha so here ya go: My trainer's name is Sister Kim and she's awesome. She's from California, but her dad is from Korea (hence the last name). I am serving in 천안 (Cheonan) which is the area in our mission that is closest to Seoul. Our ward is the best! We have about 80 members who come every week, which is a lot for Korea. The members are awesome and feed us as if we haven't eaten for a month. I thought that growing up with 6 brothers would have prepared me for this moment, but I am now convinced that no one can out-eat a Korean. THEY'RE THE BEST!

One day this past week, we were visiting a less active. She has these 2 ADORABLE little boys and they were playing with a bunch of suckers. The older brother (4 years old) had a ton of suckers while the little brother (2 years old) only had 3. At one point, the older brother stole one of the suckers out of his little brother's hands. He then started to cry (it's a traumatic event for a 2 year old.) Suddenly he stopped crying, looked at me, and handed me his remaining 2 suckers. His face lit up with the most pure, cheerful smile that I've ever seen. I learned such an important lesson from him that day. The adjustment these past couple weeks have been difficult. There have been times when I wanted to curl up in a ball, focus on the hard things, and complain about the injustices of life. However, as this sweet boy taught me this week, we find true joy when we follow the Savior's example and turn OUTWARD. And isn't that what a mission is all about? Focusing ALL of our heart, might, mind, and strength to LOVE and SERVE and LIFT and turn OUTWARD. Such a great lesson taught by a 2 year old:)

Ok, lastly some overdue shout outs:
